"Banstone" is a rare element, native only to the planet Bandar. A Guardian's sword is "forged" from the material by Kida'rin Monks in a month-long spiritual ceremony, and bonded to its Guardian carrier. In it's natural form, Banstone has unique energy-channeling properties, which are enhanced by the Kida'rin ritual, also releasing incredible physical potence. So strong is the Banstone sword, that it is thought to be unbreakable by any known physical means. The stone is melded into one mass, the solid form of a sword, and then stained with dyes derived from various vegetables and herbs (symbolic of the various Kida'rin disciplines within Nature). The grip is wrapped in a thin cloth weave, though stone is left exposed to better contact the Guardian's hand. This allows for a cross-channeling of energy between the sword and its carrier. The blade can also be locked into its scabbard (also made of light Banstone), to be used as a non-lethal alternative to the blade.
