A timeline of major events - the contextual framework for the story.
1368.10.30 - The Mining Guild of Siirk is founded to police the trade of raw materials from the Mantlis Nebula.
1370.03.03 - Earth joins the Galactic Republic. The date is December 19, 2135 A.D. according to Earth's calendar.
1370.07.27 - The Mining Guild of Siirk is given paramilitary sanction by the government to aid in their efforts to establish firm control of the Mantlis.
1378.10.10 - Klylkee joins the Galactic Republic.
1390.05.07 - By random chance, Belgotia makes first contact with the remote, peaceful planet of Bandar. Economic relations are initiated.
1390 to 1400 - Over the decade, Belgotia uses its resources from Bandar to increase their economic power. However, they begin to take advantage of their position as trade offers with Bandar are becoming more and more unreasonable and one-sided.
1396.04.05 - The Qi'oen Catalyst undergoes a major technological revision which changes many of its major physical components, most notably the element contained in Baegga Ore. It is no longer a component of the design. The new Catalyst is a major leap in speed, reliability, and low cost. Over time, it will lead to an explosion in the market for Qi'oen-capable civilian vessels (which up to now had only been accessible to the very wealthy).
1396 to 1430 - Siirkin economy dwindles as shipbuilders in the galaxy adopt the newer design for Qi'oen engines (which no longer use Baegga Ore, Siirk's main economic resource).
1400 to 1401 - Bandar begins to refuse Belgotia's trade offers. As a result, these offers turn to demands and ultimately to threats.
1401.03.23 - The Klylkeen government learns of Belgotia's involvement with Bandar and intervenes. Klylkee places Bandar under its military "protection".
1402 to 1405 - The Klylkeen government's treatment of Bandar is only marginally better than that of Belgotia. In return for their "protection", Klylkee makes Bandar an economic colony.
1403.07.26 - The Siirk Mining Guild becomes chartered as a political entity. The extremely hard times for the planet gains them support as they promise to bring back the old glory of Siirk and to reclaim their place in the Inner Sphere.
1403.09.05 - A Bandarin liberation movement begins on Klylkee as its citizens become aware of the truth that its government has tried to hide.
1404.02.04 - The Siirk Mining Guild is elected into political dominance.
1405.02.30 - The Galactic Republic learns of the events surrounding Belgotian and Klylkeen exploitation of Bandar and intervenes. Bandar is offered a place in the Galactic Republic, but declines.
1410.03.15 - Bandar develops their own Qi'oen catalyst technology. It is the beginning of Bandarin galactic exploration.
1600's - By this century, many starship technologies originally limited to military use have trickled down as options to civilians as well, including more advanced Qi'oen engines. The result is an increase in civilian independence. The realization of a true Galactic Civilization is emerging and the Republic is ever evolving its policies to keep up with this expansion.
1700's - This century would see major growth in the Republic. Many new laws are developed to accommodate the expansion of the known galaxy and Federal law enforcement is starting to become a reality.
1800's - Republic power continues to grow. Their Peacekeeping strength now extends into all of the Republic Territories.
1937.03.09 - Beluve Trae'ana is born on Bandar.
1942.10.30 - Kyarin Alaric is born on Bandar.
1956.02.14 - Siirk exerts economic control over the neighboring Alagaihs system.
1970.04.36 - The first Klylkeen ambassadors arrive on Bandar.
1972.08.06 - Siirk adds the Laajel system as an economic colony.
