"The reluctant warrior is often the strongest."
Bandar is a character-driven piece of science fiction seen through the eyes of a peaceful civilization forced to come to terms with the implications of a war to defend their home. The Bandarin are a deeply non-aggresive and spiritual people, who hold a profound respect for all life. When their small offworld colony of Lywwondar is invaded by hostile neighbors, its inhabitants are helpless to defend themselves. Many are killed in the occupation that ensues, and those who are left must live under brutality as prisoners in their own home.
Worse yet, as the atrocities continue, and the full intentions of these aggressors unfold, no one in power sees fit to intervene. The Bandarin's pleas for help are effective only in demonstrating the petty character of a galactic government too concerned with its selfish political agendas and grudges to act on these events.
And so, left to their own reliance, the inhabitants of the Bandar homeworld must make difficult choices that will call into question their moral identity and change their way of life forever. Will they live in war... or die to uphold their spiritual ideal of peace? Either choice means an end to the sacred civilization they hold so dear.
The story of Bandar is both large and small of scale. Its events are epic and expansive, yet always, they are played out by the thoughts, actions, and struggles of the main characters. Their minds and spirits breathe life into the narrative.
"These tides of chaos tell us that our way of life has become complacent. They demand that we adapt ourselves to stay atop the waves... or risk being swept away forever."
